Navigating to Crab Island
If you’re renting a boat and heading to Crab Island on your own, here are the key navigation points:
- Head north from the Destiny Water Adventures dock into Destin Harbor
- Travel past the Marler Bridge (SR 293)
- Look for the concentration of anchored boats just north of the bridge — that’s Crab Island
- Approach slowly, watch your depth, and drop anchor when you find a good spot
Always watch your speed in the harbor — Destin Harbor has strict no-wake zones that must be observed.
Best Time to Arrive at Crab Island
Arrive between 9:30am and 11am to get the best anchoring spots before the afternoon crowds arrive. Floating vendors start setting up around 10am. The busiest period is typically noon to 4pm on weekends in July and August.
