FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need boating experience to drive a pontoon boat?
I was born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, and want to operate a boat in Florida. Do I need a license?
In order to operate a motorboat of ten (10) horsepower or greater, Florida law requires anyone who was born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 to successfully complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Boating Safety Education Identification Card issued by the FWC.
Florida does not have a “boating license.” The Boating Safety Education Identification Card is proof of successful completion of the educational requirements and is valid for life.
Can we take the boat to Crab Island?
Yes, you can rent our pontoon boats to reach Crab Island, as well as the entire Destin and Fort Walton Beach area. Destiny Water Adventures is only a short drive to Crab Island!

Yes. Food and drinks are absolutely allowed on the boats, and we actually provide coolers for you! Just keep in mind that Florida’s law requires boat operators to remain under .08 blood alcohol level. If you need a designated driver we also have Captains for hire. There are also vendors near Crab island that provide food and beverages.
Do you charge for fuel on boat rentals?
No, fuel costs are not extra on a pontoon boat rental with Destiny Water Adventures. We include more than enough fuel to last the whole day on the water!
Can we take the boat into the Gulf of Mexico?
No. Even as a master captain of ten years I would feel unsafe attempting an ocean voyage on a small craft. The waters in the Gulf near Destin and the East Pass can get very rough and high seas make ocean attempts extremely dangerous.
What is Crab Island?
Crab Island is a a sand bar that was actually once an island. It is a destination for many boaters where they have access to floating bars, restaurants, inflatable water parks, and other attractions.
Are life jackets provided with boat rentals?
Yes. We have all necessary Coast Guard approved life jackets and floatation devices that come includes with your boat rental. We have life jackets for both children and adults available for you.
Can we use towables, and is tubing allowed?
No, tubing is not allowed with a standard boat rental. However, if you’d like to go tubing, you can ask about a licensed Captain taking you. We do allow that.
Do you charge for parking?
No. We have free parking right near your boat pick-up location. No traffic. No lines.
